Our Story

It Started with
a Garden and a Belief

In 2014, with a set of raised beds and a deep belief that the earth was the original pharmacy, Stephanie Willis started growing. What began as a personal practice became a product line. What became a product line became a vision for an entirely different way to build a business.

Rooted in Detroit's food sovereignty movement and inspired by the legacy of Will Allen, Bodytruth Family Farms is the fullest expression of that original belief — that the land provides everything, when we treat it right.

Young people don't need to be told the earth matters. They need to get their hands in it. Our youth programming puts them to work — building beds, planting seeds, harvesting food — and hands them a different story about what's possible.

This is legacy knowledge in motion. Human-to-earth experience that technology cannot replicate and that we refuse to let disappear.
